Ken Johnson's Top 10 Reasons to Choose Scott Lake.
Do you need some final convincing? Here is a compilation of the top ten reasons to join us at Scott Lake for an unforgettable fishing experience.
10. Bang for Buck
Our package has so much included:
- Fishing licenses
- Wine with dinner
- Use of top quality tackle
- Hotel en route
- Morning coffee service, and so much more.
We take care of everything, really. We might be a few hundred dollars more than some lodges, but our package comes very well wrapped. Its like Christmas in the summer.
9. No Long Boat Rides
The Lodge is strategically placed on a beautiful island right in the middle of the 100,000 plus acres that is Scott Lake. With no real big open areas, over 500 islands, and lots of channels, you can always find a calm place to fish just minutes from the Lodge, even on days with a lot of wind. There are no long boat rides to start the day here at Scott Lake.
You will be fishing in minutes not hours.
8. Our Fly Outs
From flying to beautiful Lefty Falls for plentiful grayling , to flying over the tundra and looking for caribou and musk ox. With 10 fly out lakes already on the roster, there are more options than you can shake a rod at.
7. Exploring
Ever since I was a kid, I wanted to fish a lake that has never been fished before. That dream has come true several times at Scott Lake and words cannot describe the feeling of catching naive fish in previously unfished wilderness lakes. We are constantly looking for new fly out lakes with all kinds of angry fish. We make fishing dreams come true.
6. Privacy - No Other Boats
After guiding at Scott Lake for ten years, I still don't take this one for granted.
Imagine having a great day of fishing, some fresh fish for lunch, maybe you got lucky and saw a moose or bear, and on the way home you realize that you haven't seen another boat all day. This is not by accident; it's by design. The lake is divided into different areas with exclusive use by your guide. Our guides when needed communicate by FM radio to make sure you have total seclusion.
You just will not see another boat, unless you want to.
5. Pristine Wilderness
With the nearest settlement being Stony Rapids 50 miles south of us and nothing in between us and the Arctic Ocean, you can only imagine how pristine and untouched the landscape is up here. After all my years at Scott Lake, I still find myself wondering sometimes Has any human ever touched that island before?.
There are not many places like that left on this planet: it's a truly unique feeling.
4. Our Experienced Guides
We have the most experienced guide team in Canada, period. If you ask any of our returning clients, they have seen the same faces from five to thirteen years. Not many other lodges can brag how long their guides have been there. And you will notfind any high school kids who are just filling their summers. We have professional guides who do this as their primary business. With quite a variety of personalities in our guide team, we can always match anglers with a guide who fits perfectly. As Head Guide thats my job too.
I could go on and on with this one, but I will just say: you wont have to worry about who will be your guide at Scott Lake; they all want to see big fish in the boat even more than you do. They work hard for their anglers.
3. First Class Facilities
From the Lodge perfectly perched on top of a hill with a breathtaking view of the lake, to the private finely appointed guest cabins, to the workout room, to the store, even down to the fishing gear that is provided free forall anglers, you will definitely find everything First Class. This is definitely a place where you can bring your most important client or your wife (or husband) or kids with absolutely no worries about the facilities or creature comforts.
2. Our Customers Come First
With a staff roster of 30 and a capacity of 24 guests, you can imagine how well we can take care of you. With a maintenance team that could have probably brought back Apollo 13, a super friendly service staff, and a culinary team fit for a king, we make your stay comfortable and relaxing. We just dont allow anyone to leave our island unhappy. We even have an on site registered massage therapist to help you with those sore arms and back from all the fish you are hauling in. You want coffee service (or even a Bloody Mary) in the morning? You got it. Do you see where I am going with this?
There isn't much we cant do for you at Scott Lake Lodge.
1. THE BEST FISHING ANYWHERE
I personally couldn't wait to get to this one.
Scott Lake is uniquely situated right on the Northwest Territory border giving us some of the most balanced fishing Canada has to offer. We are in just the right area to have both huge pike AND trout. If you go any further north, the pike get fewer and smaller, and any further south and there are fewer and smaller lake trout. Scott Lakes location strikes a perfect balance for trophy sized fish of both of those species (we do also offer spectacular grayling fishing). Between the pristine water and the knowledge of your experienced guide, those fish don't have a chance.
Everyone from experienced fisherman to first timers will be pleasantly surprised with both the aggressiveness and the numbers of fish they will encounter.
