Safety and Security

No matter how adventurous an angler you might be you probably like the idea of being safe and secure.

While trips to remote locations like Scott Lake Lodge do have some inherent risks, we control as many variables as possible. We spend a lot of time planning and training for problems you would probably never encounter. At Scott we take safety and security very seriously so you don't have to even think about it. Some anglers on remote trips rent satellite phones to provide emergency communication. Save your money. We've got you covered. For any trip in a wilderness setting communication is the key to safety. No matter where you are on your trip (on the quarter of a million acres of Scott and its adjacent lakes or on any of our ten fly out lakes) we have you locked in a seamless web of connection. Your guide will have with him at all times not just an FM radio which will reach the lodge or airplanes most of the time, but also an Iridium satellite phone which will reach anywhere all the time. We are the only Canadian lodge (or maybe the only lodge anywhere) that provides this level of technology for every guide. Call it our Linus blanket, but call it comforting.

In any emergency we can bring a float plane to your location in less than hour. At Stony Rapids, just 50 miles from the lodge, there is a hospital and a medical evacuation plane that will transfer a patient to Saskatoon if the resources at Stony Rapids are not adequate. There is also a helicopter based at Stony for nighttime evacuations. There is a cleared landing site on our island for helicopter use. Our float planes are equipped with SkyTracker transmitters which provide tracking locations for those planes at all times. No one gets "lost" at Scott, in the air or on the water. For less dramatic situations all our guides have CPR and first aid training. All boats are equipped with first aid kits and other emergency gear . At the lodge we have a portable heart defibulator which could make a life saving difference in a medical emergency. We like our customers: we want to keep them.
